Abstract

The article analyses the features of rural youth position, influence of the space segregation and age on recognitions of success and ways of its achievement. Rural dwellers, especially on the North, are the main victims of market reforms in Russia during 90th years of XX century. High level of poverty and unemployment, extremely negative demographic settings characterize their situation. The risk of underclass formation determines the actuality of research question about coping strategies among youth from poor families and their possibilities to break off the cycle of deprivation. It’s explored through the extended case-study in one rural settlement of Komi Republic.
