A protracted reform

Abstract

The article analyses the most important themes mentioned by family doctors of the town of Gatchina while being interviewed. The analysis of the texts resulted in choosing the next aspects of professional activity, mentioned by the family doctors in comparison with their foreign colleagues: differences in primary care structure, relations between family doctors and polyclinic doctors, relations of a doctor and a patient, everyday practices of a doctor. All these aspects are closely connected and intertwined. The initial period in Gatchina family doctors’ work (fifteen years ago) is compared with the first stage in the medical reform in our days. A special attention is paid to discussing the innovation in mass-media and internet)chats. The article also examines the reasons for which some features of the western medicine were successfully adopted by our doctors, and the others are taken as inapplicable in Russia.
