Abstract

The article is about the development of social work profession abroad and in Russia. Social work education is viewed as a condition of professionalism. A notion of de-professionalization of social work is debated. The author applies critical and postmodern approaches while discussing modern problems of social work. The article compares Russian and Western models of university education. An experience of Russian-British social work program is analysed.
