Abstract

The article is about the constructionist approach to social problems and its usefulness in comparison with traditional approaches such as functionalism, Marxism, etc. Constructionist approach makes it possible to find an answer to the question, which is impossible to solve in frameworks of traditional approaches, - why some situations cause concerns, are defined as problems and attract attention of policy makers, while another situations, while being as dangerous and threatening as the first, are not being problematized? In addition, such approach can be applied as a technique to construct social problems in policy area, including social policy as well as in sphere of public relations.
