Managerialization of social services: the main principles and issues

Abstract

This article is an attempt of analysis of the managerialization of social services in United Kingdom. The author analyses the main functions of classic management and reconsiders their application to the new tasks of social services under the recent transformations. This analysis makes it possible to understand how the political decisions concerning the liberalization and managerialization of social policy have affected social services, their providers and users. The author discusses the specif icity of social services development and peculiarities of managerialization in today’s Russia
