Social Service Administration: peculiarities of managing professionalization

Abstract

A process of social work professionalization is considered in this article using the empirical data collected at social services. The author answers the following questions: what organizational resources are involved into professionalization process, what requirements are applied to the specialists and which professional attributes can be traced in their performance. The criteria of professionalism are analyzed, as well as tactics of their use and development by management. The social services in focus of the study have been classified on a basis of their attempts to enhance professional competencies of their employees. The style of social service administration is shown to be influential in the professional profile of employees.
